Prewar apartment floors
Many Bronx apartment buildings have oak strip or parquet from when they were built, often refinished several times by different contractors. That history matters: layers of old stain, thin boards near doorways and patched areas where walls moved. We look at the whole floor on the visit and tell you whether a new stain color will look even or whether the patches will show through.

Stain around radiators and thresholds
Bronx prewar floors often have darker areas around radiators, where heat and past leaks have changed the wood, and worn spots at doorways. Stain can highlight these differences instead of hiding them. Before staining, we sand these areas carefully, replace boards that are too damaged, and test the color right next to them so you see the likely result.
