Business spaces across Brooklyn

Commercial space in Brooklyn comes in every shape. There are storefronts along Fifth Avenue in Park Slope and Court Street in Carroll Gardens, second-floor offices over shops on Flatbush Avenue, converted warehouse studios in Bushwick and Williamsburg, showrooms in Sunset Park, and small professional suites tucked into brownstones. Some sit on a wood deck, many sit on a concrete slab, and quite a few have three or four old floors stacked on top of each other.

We walk the space before recommending anything, looking at the base, the traffic it gets, how often chairs and carts roll across it, and what look the business wants customers to see when they walk in.

Floors we put down for businesses

Solid and engineered hardwood

A warm, finished look for boutiques, offices, studios and restaurants front of house, including patterned wood like herringbone where the design calls for it.

Glue-down vinyl plank

A fully bonded wood look that handles rolling chairs, strollers and steady foot traffic, and shrugs off spills better than wood. See our Brooklyn LVP page.

Epoxy and polished concrete

For ground-level retail, warehouses, garages, showrooms and back-of-house slabs, with flake, quartz, metallic, self-leveling, mortar and anti-static systems. Details are on our Brooklyn epoxy page.

Sanding and refinishing

Worn wood in an office or shop can often be brought back with a dust-controlled sand and fresh coats rather than replaced.

Keeping the business running

Downtime costs a store or office money, so the schedule is the first thing we settle. At the estimate, tell us which hours the space can be empty, which rooms have to stay usable, and whether weekend or after-hours work is needed. Large jobs can be split into phases so one section stays open while another is done.

Coatings, adhesives and resins all need time to set, and we build those cure windows into the plan so staff are not stepping onto soft finish when the doors open. Tear-out and grinding are the noisiest steps, and we sequence them for times that bother neighbors and tenants least.

Landlords, insurance and building access

Many Brooklyn commercial leases require a certificate of insurance naming the owner and the managing agent before a contractor can start. We are licensed and insured and send that paperwork on request. In mixed-use buildings we protect shared entries and stairs, keep debris off the sidewalk, and plan deliveries around loading limits and double-parking rules on busy avenues. All of our work carries a 5-year workmanship warranty, as written on your job.

After the install: upkeep for a commercial floor

A shop or office floor lasts longest when the daily routine suits the material. Walk-off mats at every entrance trap grit before it scratches the finish. Felt pads under chairs and display fixtures stop gouges, and rolling carts do less harm with soft wheels. For wood floors, a periodic screen and fresh topcoat renews the surface long before a full sanding is needed. Tile grout benefits from sealing, and epoxy or polished concrete mostly needs dry dust mopping plus a neutral pH wash. We walk managers through a simple maintenance plan at handover, so staff know exactly which products are safe and which will dull the finish.

What affects the cost

Each commercial space is quoted after we measure it. These are the items that shape the final number:

  • Square footage and layout: open floor versus many small rooms, closets and corridors.
  • Material: hardwood, engineered wood, vinyl plank or a resin coating system.
  • Existing layers: how much old flooring or adhesive has to come up first.
  • Base condition: leveling, slab moisture, or subfloor repair before the new floor.
  • Schedule: after-hours, weekend or phased work to keep the doors open.
  • Access: upper floors, elevator bookings and street parking.

Picking a floor for heavy traffic

The right floor depends on what happens on it. A dental suite or law office usually wants quiet, a cleanable surface and good looks, which points to engineered wood or glue-down vinyl plank. A coffee counter or bakery gets wet and sees constant movement, so vinyl or a coated slab tends to last longer than wood there. A garage, stockroom or workshop with carts and pallet jacks is usually best served by a resin system bonded to the concrete. We bring samples and explain the tradeoffs in plain terms so you can pick what fits your budget and your space.

Frequently asked questions

What kinds of businesses do you install floors for?

Offices, retail stores, showrooms, studios, salons, restaurants front of house, warehouses and garages. We look at each space and suggest a floor that suits how it is used.

Can you work nights or weekends so we stay open?

Yes. Tell us your open hours at the estimate and we plan after-hours, weekend or phased work, including finish and cure times.

Will you send a certificate of insurance to our landlord?

Yes. We are licensed and insured and provide the certificate your landlord or managing agent asks for.

Is hardwood a good idea for a shop floor?

It can be, especially in boutiques and offices. For wet areas or very heavy traffic we usually suggest vinyl plank or a coated slab instead.

Do you only do epoxy for commercial jobs?

No. We also install solid and engineered hardwood, patterned wood and glue-down vinyl plank, and we refinish worn business floors.

Can you refinish the existing wood floor in our office?

Often, yes. If the boards are sound, a dust-controlled sand and new coats can restore it without a full replacement.

Do you handle commercial flooring outside Brooklyn?

Yes. See commercial flooring in Manhattan, commercial flooring in Queens, commercial flooring in the Bronx, commercial flooring in Staten Island, commercial flooring in Nassau County and commercial flooring in Suffolk County.

Which Brooklyn neighborhoods do you serve?
