I had renovation work done and the subcontractor did a horrible job - didn't listen at all and the general contractor was no help. “After 12 years of being in our house we decided to take off our painted wall paper in our living room. We decided to pull up the carpet and finally expose our parquet floor. Even though the floor had a rug on it, it had many issues. We were in a pinch to get our floor done quickly. When I called Gemini's office and spoke with Rosemary, we actually got put on the schedule for the next day. I was hoping to get a return call from 2 other places for a price comparison, but neither business even bothered to call me back. Their reviews were good, so we decided to jump in. I am so glad we did! The owner, Dyal spoke with me about my room and I told him what repairs my floor needed. I took pictures of the missing or damaged pieces, and sent them to him. Having never seen my floor in person, they came prepared for any scenario. Dyal, Nigel, "Bagel", and Marlon showed up ready for action. I spoke with Dyal and he answered any questions I had. He left his knowledgeable crew here while he went to check on his other teams in the field. They did the repair work first. There was an awkwardly shaped gap at the door sill. They beautifully matched the profile to fit the gap, then fixed the missing pieces. Even the round drill holes for wires that I forgot to mention were filled. The guys both machine and hand sanded, vacuumed and buffed until the floor was as smooth as a baby's bottom. They stained it a beautiful chestnut color that my family voted on. "Bagel" and Marlon came out the next morning to put 3 coats of satin sealer on, and buffed and vacuumed again between the second and third coats. Since my living room is empty, and my floor is ready for action my husband said we are moving everything out of the dining room and pulling that carpet up too! I will be calling Dyal back sometime this week to come out again! We are so pleased with our floor, and are happy to see the parquet floor be given new life! Give Dyal and his crew a call. Barron and Lewis sanded the floor down to it’s original state; applied several coats of polyurethane, and stained it in the color I selected after they showed me how several colors would look on the floor. “Simply stated, Gemini Floor Services saved our floors and brought them to life. We initially made the mistake of letting a general contractor talk us into finishing the hardwood floors, since we were going to save about 3000 compared to quotes we got from a couple flooring companies. We thought we were getting a great deal. The floors were done and looked amazing for a while, but within a few weeks, the floors started peeling (see before photos) and the contractor was long gone and no where to be found. We were horrified and felt like we were swindled. We were depressed. So we decided to get quotes from only reputable flooring companies, reading reviews, having them all come over and look around and give their opinions and pricing to compare. ‭ Dyal at Gemini Floors seemed different than the rest. He was genuinely hurt that the floors were in that state and empathized with us, offered us reasons and solutions that made sense, and beat every floor company’s quotes by hundreds of dollars less. His guys came over, striped a part of the floor and put down samples for us to choose from so he would be certain of what we were looking to achieve. We wanted a more rustic look and chose the Jacobean stain with a flat finish. Dyal informed us that they use only the finest floor finish available on the market today, Bona. His crew immediately got to work. They were meticulous, neat, and efficient. The floors were sanded first. Then in order to achieve a deep color, they completed a “water pop”, which is where water is applied to the wood in order to open up the wood fibers so the stain can penetrate deeply for a rich color result. The stain was then applied, allowed to dry, and the following day the Bona flat polyurethane we chose was applied, dried, and then a second coat applied. “Everyone here has told you how great their floors look. Lots of people end up with great looking floors but only after a lot of aggravation. So let me tell you about the best part of the process: everything that comes before the refinishing - and the amazing professionalism of Dyal and SallyAnne. I called late on a Sunday (the site said they were open but I was thinking, yeah, I’m sure I’ll be leaving a message) and to my surprise, SallyAnne picked up the phone! She said she’d call Monday to cement things, but before she could even do that, Dyal called me first. SallyAnne did call again as promised, and laughed when I told her Dyal had contacted me. I was pinching myself. Did people actually respond and call when they say they will? I haven’t had service that this since...ever. So, as I live out of state and this was for my mom’s apt. in Brooklyn, it was really, really important that we meet at my convenience when I’m able to get to NYC. Done! Then, thanks to the MTA I was stalled and I called Dyal, who said not a problem, I’ll just meet you an hour later. Done! In our previous conversation,SallyAnne had asked me what the square footage was, but I didn’t know the exact s/f at the moment, so she told me what the price per square foot was. Dyal came, measured, and his price squared exactly with what I was told. He was ready to go to work immediately, he uses Bona, which is ecological….and I was just floating. Folks, I had to take 2 days off from work, day 1 Dyal comes, day 2, the work begins, and the building super was cool about letting him come in as I had to leave and go back home. I’ve done extensive renovations - and been the victim of extensive renovations -and this experience was just unheard of. And let me tell you this: while I was waiting for Dyal, I also had scheduled a plumber from Angie’s List. “Gemini Floors was one of several companies to bid on refinishing the 650 square feet of floors in my apt. Covering 90% of the total apt, the floors are a crucial part of the space. Dyal (owner) was flexible about viewing the job, and prompt with his bid. Dyal’s team ultimately sanded, stained, buffed, and applied three coats of Acrylic finish to the floors. They did an excellent job and they got it done on the schedule I needed. When he didn't have a specific color I was looking for he ran to home depot just to get me the different color samples right away. They opened up a section of the floor and replaced the plywood, secured it to the concrete and installed the proper vapor barrier and paper. They then installed the new oak flooring by weaving it into the existing floor. They sanded and refinished the entire room. Other contractors told me it would take 3-5 days. Gemini did it in 1 and at a very reason price. I hope to use them on another project in the fall.”

“I recently bought my first home. Upon referral of a friend, I took a contractor he suggested. The contractor guaranteed me he would do my bathroom kitchen and floor remodel without issues. This did not work out as he suggested. They completely messed up on everything, the floor being the worst, which included my hallway, bedroom living dinning and kitchen. When I got to my house that day I was in tears. The satin was a disaster, very uneven and ugly. The stain color was dark walnut. I immediately fired them after seeing my floors, when to computer and search for a licensed sanding and refreshing company. At that point I was done with referrals. I research several local companies and decided on Gemini Floor Services. I spoke to the company secretary who told me I would receive a call back by the end of the day. I received the call, and spoke to company owner Dyal Ramnarine. I explained what transpired. He was very professional yet sympathetic to the situation. He offered me an appointment for the next day. Upon arrival, he introduced himself, and started his inspection, then concluded on a price. He was very detailed, assured me he would resolve the issue. The price we concluded on was very reasonable considering how terrible the floors looked. On the first day the sanding was done, I was very impressed. The floor looked amazing and that was only the first set of sanding. I knew from that point, the finial finish would be amazing. After all sanding, stain and polyurethane, my floors was a beauty. I recently searched the internet for the kind of reviews you are reading here. Thought I would put them to the test and see for myself. Fact: every request and condition I made was met without complaint. The finished project was beyond excellent. My entire first floor (including subfloor) was removed leveled and new subfloor with Red Oak floor over that 3 coats of Poly (water based dries quickly) were added. The workers arrived on time each day, and put in between 8 and 10 hours daily. Courteous, respectful, knowledgeable with a minimum of inconvenience and a price that was the best surprise of all. My ONLY regret, is that this review may be too good and I will not be able to get them back for other projects. “Kerishendial{Dyal} is a flooring contractor that I hired to replace the entire 800 sq foot apt. flooring, in my 2 family Brooklyn home. I had an idea of what wood I wanted installed, but Dyal was on target with his suggestions. Red oak 5inc plank width, 3/4 inc depth was the decided floor covering & then the work began. Since the apt was occupied, the amount of prep work was enormous, & he handled this project like the professional that he is.
