We enjoy visiting this part of Brooklyn for flooring installations. It’s like a little get away from the city. These neighborhoods on the outerskirts of Brooklyn are like the suburbs. It’s not considered the hip, happening part of Brooklyn. It’s old Brooklyn. It’s family friendly. There’s no nightlife scene. Some say shopping and dining are limited out here. But these neighborhoods are clean, safe, quiet and well kept. Schools are very good and communitiesa are tight knit.

If you want all the action you can make it to Manhattan in an hour. But to get to the subway you’ll have to first catch a bus to the nearest subway station. The buses can get you anywhere in the city. But out here most folks have cars.

And most houses have a driveway, garage, and backyard. It’s really suburban, with tree line streets and plenty of parks. There’s even a shopping mall in the area. Streets are less crowded with cars and pedestrians. If you want to hit the beach it’s within 20 minutes drive to Coney Island & Brighton or Rockaway Beaches.

Housing we wouldn’t say is cheap, because nowhere in New York City is it cheap. But it’s relatively more affordable out here. You get more bang for your buck. There’s a good variety of housing with attached and detached houses, townhouses, apartments and condos.

Shopping is actually pretty decent considering you have several commercial streets and Brooklyn’s only indoor shopping mall Kings Plaza. The mall features major retailers and has a boat dock to accomodate the many boats in the area. There’s also the Georgetown shopping center. The new Fairway Market there is being hailed as one of the best food markets in Brooklyn. Combined withh all the shops and restaurants on Flatbush, Avenue U and Ralph Ave, it’s enough to satisfy most folks who prefer suburban living.

Marine Park

A main highlights of the area is the Marine Park located in the neighborhood of the same name. It’s Brooklyn’s largest park at 530 acres. Just a tad bigger than Prospect Park which is 526 acres. Marine Park hosts an abundance of recreational activities including sports fields, events, bicycling and paddle boating.

Flatlands

What some folks like about this side of Brooklyn is that it’s still the old Brooklyn, untouched by gentrification. Yet diversity is there and you can see it in Flatlands where you have a mix of people, especially Jewish and Caribbean folks.

Mill Basin

One of the wealthiest neighborhoods in Brooklyn. Many of the homes here are like mansions. Most homes are on the water with a private boat dock. Mill Basin is where we get to do some of our finest flooring work. Wood flooring in these homes is highly ornate with custom medallions and borders.

Bergen Beach

Upscale, quaint and qiet neighborhood good for family living. Several parks grace the neighborhood, but no there’s no actual public beach though the nabe is surrounded by water. It’s another area that was devastated by Hurricane Sandy. Bergen Beach bounced back quickly thanks to community support.
